Home Reading Program
Every day students will choose a book from school to bring home and read to a parent or guardian. They will then record the books in their home reading diary.
The home reading program will begin Monday, August 20th.
Some questions you can ask after your child finishes reading to build comprehension skills:
Retell the main events in the story in order.
What was the main idea of the story?
Who are the characters in the story and what are they like?
Why do you think (pick a character) acted that way?
What was the setting?
How were (name two characters) alike/different from each other?
What was the problem in the story and how was it solved?
Does this story remind you of something you have done or read about?
What was the author trying to tell the reader?
