This week we visited the Grade 5 Market Day. There were lots of great services, food and games on offer with all proceeds going to charity!
This week in Math we have been learning about bar graphs. We surveyed the class about their favourite art forms and made our own graphs. After that we created our own surveys.
Andy: I have a torch. This is a kind of torch. And this is a kind of a board. And this torch can actually draw on this board.
Sit in a circle. So if you see? And then you can turn on the torch and try drawing something. Like this.
It’s like, you just scribble around with the tip of the torch touching the board. And actually there’s two pieces. It’s supposed to be like this.
And there is one more thing I want to show you.
Ben: Oh, it makes the pattern?
Andy: It’s not a pattern.
Andy: Okay, I’ll show you.
Ben: It looks like the Earth.
Andy: It’s the Moon.
Charlie: Wow, it’s so beautiful.
Olivia: Can we try to draw on here? Yah, here to here.
Andy: Okay, start from here.
Amelia: Which way are we going to go Andy?
Ben: What is that Andy?
Andy: It’s a star.
Charlie: Justin, did you want to try?
Olivia: I have a question. When is this gone?
Andy: 10 seconds.Only if the lights are on. If it’s this dark, it will take longer than that.
Olivia: Ms. Leah, would you like to try?
Ms Leah: I would love to.
Andy: Ms Florence, would you like to try?
Olivia: And Ms Adella, you can try after Ms Florence.
Ms Florence: Where did you get that, Andy?
Olivia: In China?
Andy: No Toys R Us, I think.
Olivia: Oh, really? I want to buy one too!
here to edit.
Today we practice mirroring and shadowing with a partner. Then we learned some new moves and put them together to form our own routines. We are looking forward to practicing and performing our routines next week!
This week we got together with our reading buddies, Ms Rehu's Grade 4 class. We took turns reading and showed them some of our work.
Irfan: Good morning, everyone. Today my show and tell is about musical instruments. Who likes music? Did you know playing with musical instruments will help us build motor skills. I play the guitar, the drum and the maracas with my parents.
Ben: How do you play?
Irfan: This guitar is made from cardboard and rubber bands.
Charlie: And a tissue box?
Ben: And tape?
Charlie: Can I see you play it?
Irfan: You can pass it around.
Amelia: Should we sit in a circle.
Irfan: Next, Ms Florence, can you please help me take it out?
Ms Florence: Sure. The big one?
Irfan: But that I cannot pass around. Just put it in the middle. Just put it in the middle. It’s the drums.
Irfan: This one is made from instant noodle container and another container.
Charlie: Can we try it?
Olivia: Be gentle.
Charlie: Nice one, Hyuga.
Irfan: This maracas is made from a plastic spoon a plastic egg and then I wrapped it with tape, inside I put plastic. At home all of you can create your own DIY musical instruments. I hope all of you enjoyed the presentation.
We are a class of Grade 1 students at an international school in Singapore hoping to share our learning with you.
